Caspian RDC Monitor — Download and First-Time Installation
Choose the matching Setup file
Download the Setup file for your version of Windows:
WINDOWS 10 /11
DOWNLOAD -> 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11:** `Caspian-RDC-Monitor-Setup-Win10-11.exe`
- **Windows 7:**
Will provide MS Link for .NET 4.8 if it is not installed on your PC.
The Setup file includes the Microsoft runtime Caspian requires. You do not need to download that runtime separately.
* Install Caspian
1. Download and run the Setup file for your PC.
2. Approve any Windows security or administrator prompts.
3. Follow the Setup screens and finish the installation.
4. If Windows asks you to restart, restart the PC and run Setup again.
Setup checks for Npcap, which Caspian needs for live network capture. It is a free download but Npcap is **not included** with Caspian because we are not allowed to distribute it with the install If Setup finds Npcap, continue. Read the install screen message closely. If Npcap was detected you can ignore the message to go to the website to download it.
If Setup does not find Npcap but you know it is installed, you can continue; Caspian will check for usable capture adapters when it starts. If Npcap is not installed, choose **Open Npcap website**, install it, then return to Setup and choose **Recheck**. Download Npcap from its [official website](https://npcap.com/) and review its license terms.
**Windows 7:** The PC must have Windows 7 SP1. Npcap also requires Windows update KB4474419 for driver signature support. If Npcap’s installer reports a missing requirement, install the required Windows update before installing Npcap.
Set up your Network, You will need a HUB or a managed switch with port mirroring capability. The first image below assumes a Netgear Hub (NOT A SWITCH) You can find them on ebay but NOTE: MANY SEARCH RESULTS FOR "HUBS" WILL BE SWITCHES ON EBAY AND AMAZON. Learn the difference so you know what you are looking at: viewtopic.php?t=14

Or Zyxel 8 Port Managed Switch

You do not need any other hardware but a second network adapter is recommended for use with Caspian. An inexpensive USB Nic works fine.
READ THE READ ME FIRST DOC IN THE INSTALL FOLDER.
* Start live monitoring
1. Start Caspian from the desktop shortcut.
2. Enter the RDC’s IP address.
3. Select the wired network adapter receiving the RDC traffic.
4. Click **START** when the network connection is ready.
The PC must receive RDC traffic through a switch mirror port, an Ethernet TAP, or a suitable hub. A regular switch port or ordinary Wi-Fi connection generally will not show traffic sent between other devices.
Npcap is required for live capture. Saved Caspian logs can be opened without it.
